Why use beard balm?
Beard balm moisturises facial hair and the skin beneath much the same as beard oil. But beard balm also with the addition of Shea butter to condition your beard and beeswax allows you to tame unruly hairs by giving an extra element of hold that a beard oil cannot offer.
What's in it?
Beeswax (Cera Alba)
Beeswax is a natural wax produced by honey bees, its what gives the balm its hold. Beeswax has been used in the cosmetic industry for many years and was first used in candle making by the ancient Egyptians.
Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii)
Shea butter is used to make our balm spread and melt easily into your hands making it easy to apply. Shea butter has many great uses for skin and hair care including; conditioning hair, softening skin, help with blemishes and wrinkles, Stops itchy skin and Moisturises dry skin to name a few.
Sweet Almond Oil (Prunus amygdalus dulcis)
Sweet Almond is an excellent emollient and is known for its ability to soften and re-condition the skin. Thanks to the Vitamin E, sweet almond oil keeps your skin cells healthy, protects your skin from UV radiation damage, and helps your skin look smooth, soft, and free of fine lines.
The fatty acids help your skin retain moisture and can heal chapped and irritated skin.
Plus, the vitamin A can help reduce acne. Because the oil easily penetrates skin, it’s great for cleaning out the dirt and oil and accumulates in your pores. This process can prevent blackheads and acne from developing.
Vitamin E Oil (Tocopheryl)
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble, essential nutrient with anti-inflammatory properties. Vitamin E helps support the immune system, cell function, and skin health. It’s an antioxidant, making it effective at combating the effects of free radicals produced by the metabolism of food and toxins in the environment. Vitamin E oil is very thick and hard to spread on skin unless mixed with other oils, it can make an excellent moisturiser for dry, patchy areas of skin. Despite many beliefs Vitamin E oil is in fact a synthetic product.
Nut derived oils are not commonly allergenic but if you do have a sensitivity, it’s generally advised to perform a skin patch test. Simply place a drop of oil on the inside of your wrist and leave uncovered for 24 hours. If there is no reaction, itching, redness, or swelling, it should be fine for you to use the oil. For customers with nut allergies, it’s certainly better to be safe than sorry.
Our products contain nut oils that are derived from the nuts or fruits of trees and shrubs.
Our products are all made using the finest quality natural ingredients with the exception of a few fragrance oils in some products. We like to be honest and transparent with our consumers about what we use in our products.
